V5FF-TQ-8080 has approximate housing dimensions of 100 × 135 × 10.7 mm with an 80 × 80 mm sensing window, providing a large rectangular opening for products, webs, or parts to pass through. The construction is a flat plate-style body with the fiber optics arranged so that a light curtain spans the full 80×80 mm window, enabling easy alignment around conveyors, chutes, or frames.

The sensor operates as a passive fiber head: the light source and receiver electronics reside in the connected amplifier, while the V5FF-TQ-8080 provides the optical path and mechanical interface. Typical minimum detectable object size for this model is about 25 × 25 mm (MDO value in the manufacturer’s table), meaning it is optimized for medium-size targets such as pouches, boxes, or larger components rather than tiny wires or labels.

  • Presence / counting of medium objects: Detects cartons, pouches, trays, and other medium-sized products as they pass through the 80×80 mm window for counting, flow monitoring, and completeness checks on packaging and assembly lines.

  • Edge and position sensing over a wide area: Senses the leading or trailing edge of a web or object across the window, supporting basic positioning, length control, or “product in position” confirmation where a broader gate area is needed.

  • Jam and blockage monitoring: Acts as a jam detector by triggering when products accumulate or remain in the window, useful at machine infeeds, chutes, and diverters.
